Audiometry

Pure Tone Audiometry

PTA is the main hearing test used to identify hearing threshold levels of an individual. This helps in determining the degree, type and configuration of hearing loss and to plan further management

Tympanometry

Reflexometry

The test is administered in a similar fashion as tympanometry, to activate the ear's reflexive response to loud sounds. If your hearing loss is severe, this reflex may not be activated during the test

Newborn Hearing Test

NBHS

Newborn Hearing Screening  (NBHS) program aims to screen infants for possible hearing loss. This program is carried out with the aim to provide early hearing detection and intervention (EHDI). OAE +/- AABR are the usual test done under UNHS

Auditory Verbal Therapy

AVT

Following cochlear implantation (CI), hearing training and speech and language therapy are provided in the form of Auditory Verbal Therapy (AVT). This is important because a CI recipient requires training to adjust themselves to electrical mode of stimulation with CI

Speech Audio

Speech Audiometry

Speech audiometry is done to obtain information on the functional aspects of your hearing loss i.e., how well you can recognize and understand speech. While this test is carried out, you will be asked to repeat a few words or letters you will hear

OAE

Otoacoustic Emissions

OAEs are sounds produced by hair cells in the inner ear. This test helps in determining what region of your auditory system is affected. It is important to note that OAEs may be absent when there is an ear infection or fluid in the middle ear

HAT

Hearing Aid Fitting

Based on your audiological results and your communication needs, our audiologist will recommend you a specific type of hearing aid to be trialed. The results of the trial will help us to fit you with a HA that meets your needs and expectations

Speech Therapy

Speech Therapy

Speech therapy (ST) is the assessment and treatment of communication problems and speech disorders. It is performed by speech-language pathologists (SLPs), who are often referred to as speech therapists. ST techniques are used to improve communication

Tympanometry

Tympanometry

This test assesses the integrity and functioning of your middle ear system. Our audiologist will place a probe that looks like an earphone into your ear. You will feel a change of pressure inside your ear when the test is being carried out

AABR

ABR

Auditory Brainstem Response tests your auditory nerve and brainstem. To perform this test, our audiologist will place electrodes on the forehead and behind the ears. The responses from the auditory nervous system are recorded and displayed on the screen

Cochlear Implant

Cochlear Implants

Cochlear implants are electrical devices that electrically stimulate the auditory nerves. They are especially helpful for individuals who have severe to profound hearing loss and obtain limited benefit from hearing aids

Earmolds

Earmolds

Everyone's ears are different. Some of these ears require the use of custom ear molds to fit properly. They also allow for custom venting. Venting is CRITICAL to properly fit a set of hearing aids. Too big, and sound leaks out causing feedback and limited hearing benefit
